Non-Medical Home Care Caregivers needed in Chesterfield/Ballwin/Ellisville/Valley Park, MO

 Weekday, evening AND weekend availability required.


Starting pay $9.50 per hour, $10.50 per hour for fill in shifts; perfect attendance and other bonus opportunities after 90 days of successful employment; paid monthly in-service training.

Visiting Angels is hiring experienced, caring, patient, compassionate and reliable individuals who have a genuine interest in working with seniors and others to provide non-medical in-home care. Duties include light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, personal care, errands/transportation and companionship.

POSITION PURPOSE: The Caregiver performs services for the client as necessary to maintain the personal comfort of the client. The Caregiver reports directly to the: Case Manager & Director.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • Understand and adhere to information and precautions contained in individual clients Home Plan of Care.
  • Assist the client with personal care activities including: bathing, skin care, back rub, hair care, nail care, dressing and undressing, feeding, oral hygiene, shaving, grooming and bedtime care.
  • Assist the client to the bathroom or in use of urinal or bedpan. Keep incontinent clients clean and dry.
  • Assist the client with clients self-administration of medications.
  • Assist the client with personal communication skills, as needed.
  • Prepare appropriate documentation of the client care or service(s) furnished.
  • Report all client and employee incidents/accidents to supervisor immediately.
  • Assist the client with exercise, ambulation and transfer activities. Be aware of proper body mechanics.
  • Ensure maintenance of a clean, safe, comfortable and healthy environment for the client.
  • Observe safety precautions, including: wiping up wet floors, spills and other falling hazards immediately. Also, report safety hazards, frayed electrical cords, unsecured handrails, malfunctioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors/alarms, defective equipment or environmental hazards to supervisor on the same day of observation.
  • Engage in respectful social interaction with client, including friendly conversation and empathic support, as well as, respecting client's privacy and property.
  • Exhibit positive attitude and behavior and demonstrate respect for employees and clients and maintain absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, clients' families and employees.
  • Respond and attend to client's requests promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the team.
  • Maintain proper hand washing techniques.
  • Participate in required in-service training programs.
  • Understand the importance of seeking assistance, as needed, from your supervisor and/or others; demonstrate capability and dependability in following instructions.
  • Understand that regular, consistent attendance is necessary to serve clients.
  • Accept and fulfill assignments with the Agency; exercise judgment in accepting assignments.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the management team.

 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL ABILITIES REQIRED:

 

  • Must be twenty one (21) years of age.
  • Demonstrate sympathetic attitude toward caring for others.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in private duty home care.
  • Have own, reliable transportation, plus ability & willingness to keep it clean, as we do offer transportation for our clients
  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently and diplomatically orally and in writing.
  • Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm and maintain a sense of humor; and present a well-groomed professional image.
  • Ability to generate goodwill for the organization and its management among staff, clients, and referral sources. Demonstrate a strong commitment to client service excellence.
  • Possess and maintain good physical and mental health, including current TB testing.
  • Clean background and driving record - our agency runs a nationwide check.
  • Be registered or register with MO Family Care Safety Registry - our agency checks this.
  • U.S. Citizen or evidence of valid Alien Work Permit.

 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: See ADA Requirements WORKING CONDITIONS: Caregivers work in the clients homes. You must be able to bend down, lift, and do other things associated with cleaning, cooking and care giving. You must also be able to handle patient suffering that might be due to physical or emotional problems at home.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

 

  • Grooming: Hair care, shaving, oral care and skin care.
  • Bathing Assistance: Shower assistance, tub bath, bed bath.
  • Dressing Assistance: Assisting with dressing and undressing a client.
  • Toileting Assistance: bathroom, bedside commode, urinal, bedpan or adult disposable briefs.
  • Ambulation Assistance: use of walker, cane, gait belt or crutches.
  • Transferring: from bed, wheelchair, low chair, use of lift, turning client in bed.
  • Medication Reminders: reminding clients to take medications already in 7 day pill box (caregivers never fill pill boxes or dose out of prescription bottles)
  • Cleaning for client safety and comfort: kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, laundry, changing sheets, and light housework of client(s) living spaces.
  • Meals: shopping for food, cooking food, following special diets, serving food, feeding client
  • Emotional Support: companionship, teaching, having conversations, playing cards.
  • Transportation: errands, medical appointments, shopping. Client Vehicle or Caregiver vehicle may be used. (If caregiver drives client a per mile reimbursement applies)
  • Communication: coordinating patient care with other members of health care team. Reporting changes in patient condition to the office. Keep records of patient care.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Record daily care notes. Report any significant client changes to the Agency office
